Meet the Team

Karen started out with SC4 in 1983, assisting with the general office admin before moving to accounts, whilst she put herself through college to become AAT and CIMA qualified. Karen progressed to Financial Director, then joint MD with Shay, before taking the reins as MD in 2021 (so Shay could begin steps toward retirement, although we’ll believe that when we see it!).  She is a big believer in continuous learning and self-development, as demonstrated throughout her career and encourages such culture within SC4. Karen too has a passion for music and is an extremely talented pianist as well as learning to play the drums…a passion she shares with her grand-daughters earning her the title of cool Nanny! Karen practises healthy holistic living and spirituality, which we suspect is the secret to her youthful looks!

Frankie joined the family business in 2021 after 20 years within commercial roles in various sectors. She enjoys the fast-paced environment of the steel industry and relishes the challenges it brings, looking after customers from initial quotation through to completion. Frankie enjoys quality time with her three beloved daughters and dog Marley as well as cooking and live music with family and friends.

Shay has worked in the steel industry for forty years.  He has a wealth of experience, starting out at 19 on the straightening presses, helping his father establish SC4 as a steel straightening facility and growing it into the innovative, processing and fabrication company it is today. He has always been a visionary and his ability to think outside the box and problem solve from different angles has earnt him a reputation as an industry leader, regularly offering advice and support within the steel world, something that sets SC4 apart from competitors. He has always been a family-orientated man who relishes being a grandad.  He loves reading and has a love for many different genres of music, something he has passed down to his four daughters. Shay always has an amusing story to tell and is also in the process of writing a book…watch this space!

Becca is the newest member of Team SC4, having joined us in August 2023.  She has been an incredible addition to the team, her organised and thorough work ethic has helped streamline our processes and she certainly keeps everyone in check! Becca moved up to Scunthorpe from Brighton a few years ago and her Southern quips are a wonderful breath of fresh air to us Northerners! Outside of work, Becca enjoys family time with her daughter and partner and has an exciting bucket list they enjoy working through together.

Wes has been part of the SC4 team for 24 years, beginning on the tools as a welder / fabricator in 2000, before qualifying as an inspector, progressing to Fabricator Foreman then settling into his current role as RWC Technical & NDT inspector. Wes’ attention to detail and knowledge from the ground up provides customers with a unique service;  offering support with projects from the early stages, negating costly reworks further down the line. Outside of the steel world, Wes enjoys DIY, family time, travelling and good food with his partner and children.

Marley enjoyed joining Frankie in the office every day and kept everyone’s spirits up with cuddles and finishing up lunches! He was everyone’s favourite member of the team!
