Offshore Container Project

Client:

Hall & Pickles Steel Stockholders & Processors

Location:

North Sea

The Brief

Hall & Pickles approached us to process components for an offshore container project, using their own free issue material, but with tight timescales. The project included 300 x 100 RHS (rectangular hollow sections) and 200 x 75 PFC (parallel flange channels).

The Outcome

We cut all the components to length, processing mitres, notches and slots all on our high-def plasma coping robot and saw/drill line efficiently, producing an excellent quality finish. Despite the customer’s free issue RHS material arriving over a week later than planned due to customs, we managed to turn the processing around within 2-3 days of receiving the material to still meet the customer’s specified collection dates. This was in part achievable as all QA was done in-house. All components were ID marked and bundled in lot order.

The customer had to collect the loads on a curtain sider, not always ideal for a lot of steel companies to load/off load, but as we have plenty of overhead cranes in each warehouse as well as forklifts, we were able to be flexible with the means of transport.
